ARTISAN PANDORO CAKE

Presumably created in the second half of the 19th century, it has inherited the name from the Venetian Renaissance " Pan de Oro" (Gold Bread), once served in patrician dwellings coated eith gold leaf.

The recipe for the cake is extremely elaborate: the final dough is put into a mold and when it swells to the brim it is baked in the oven. The cake is served sprinkled with confectioner's sugar.
